Fate

Definition: Fate
destiny - an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future

It has always crossed my mind, what is fate exactly? How can we define whether something is fate or whether it's fate because we simply want it to be. I think sometimes we convince ourselves in our minds that some situations or occurences are fate, to give ourselves a reason to believe that our actions are valid, that what we're doing has a purpose and is somewhat 'destined'. It allows us to reason with ourselves in our own minds, so that a situation that is normally completely barbaric is now completely legit.
I was watching a film today about a female character who had pinned her hopes of finding love on fate. However she starts to doubt, what is fate really, losing hope in it to find her love. She says if i walk into a supermarket everyday and the first person i see is the butcher, is that fate? Does that mean he's the one for her? She makes a completely valid point which got me thinking.
Maybe sometimes we end up creating our own fate due to what we want to happen to our lives. So does this mean there isn't such thing as fate and really all those couples in movies that have lived happily ever after because of fate are simply just an obscurred vision of reality.
In fact fate could just be indicating to us the path that we're destined to take, which is the path that we have chosen for ourselves. So, fate is an event that will inevitably happen in the future, but as a conclusion of the decisions that we makes ourselves, not anyone else. Our fate is in our control and when we see the opportunity, we have to seize the chance to make the event that we want to happen happen. If there's something you've always wanted to do but have been waiting for the right time or fate to make it happen, don't wait. Make it happen today!

"We create our fate everyday we live"
